Client information

Clear expectations support safer therapy.

Important information about your rights, privacy, virtual appointments, records, and how to raise a concern.

01

Professional services

Therapy is provided by Registered Social Workers who identify their credentials, registration status, jurisdictions, areas of competence, and services in their individual profiles. Your therapist practises only within their education, training, experience, and current competence.

02

Informed consent

Before therapy begins, you will review the nature and purpose of services, potential benefits and risks, fees, communication practices, confidentiality and its limits, record keeping, virtual-care considerations, and your right to ask questions, seek another opinion, or stop services.

03

Privacy and records

Waypoint collects only the information needed to provide and administer services. Clinical and financial records are stored securely, retained and destroyed according to applicable law and professional requirements, and disclosed only with consent or when legally required. You may ask how to access or correct your record.

04

Virtual appointments

You must be physically located in Alberta or Saskatchewan during each session. Your therapist will confirm your location and emergency contact information. Online therapy requires a private space, a reliable connection, and a suitable device; technology carries privacy and service-interruption risks that will be reviewed with you.

05

Communication

Email and website forms are for scheduling and general administrative messages, not urgent or sensitive clinical information. Response times, after-hours boundaries, and any use of text or email are explained before services begin and documented when clinically relevant.

06

Emergencies and continuity

Waypoint is not a crisis service and does not monitor messages continuously. Call or text 988 for suicide crisis support, call 911 in an emergency, or go to the nearest emergency department. Clients are informed about coverage during therapist absences and options for referral or continuity of care.

07

Questions or concerns

You are encouraged to discuss concerns directly with your therapist or the practice. You may also contact the Alberta College of Social Workers or the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers about a therapist registered in that jurisdiction. Raising a concern will not affect your right to respectful care.

08

Website information

Website and blog content is general education, not diagnosis, treatment, crisis support, or a substitute for individualized professional advice. No therapeutic relationship is created by visiting the website or sending a general enquiry.

A complete service agreement and privacy notice are provided before your first paid appointment.
